We learned about aperture and shutter speed this week, and how to use priority modes to control those. We also started getting into manual mode, and how to control both at the same time. For this project, I captured shallow and deep fields with low and high aperture. I also captured frozen motion with high shutter speed, and blurred motion with low shutter speed.
Daylight Stars
DTP: This was taken in the middle of some landscaping around my apartments at about 10:30 a.m. I used high shutter speed to capture sprayed water droplets.

Shutter speed: 1/1250

Blurry Puddles
DTP: It was pouring this morning, so I snuck out under the parking shelter and took this shot around 9 a.m.
Fstop: 4
Shutter speed: 1/40
Camera: Canon SL-1 w/18-55mm lens.
You Gotta Be Quick With Me
DTP: Also at my apartments in the breezeway in front of my door, right around 9:30 a.m.
Fstop: 8
Shutter speed: 1/40
Camera: Canon SL-1 w/18-55mm lens.

Read Between the Lines
DTP: I actually thought these lights at my apartments looked cool, so I hopped on the barbecue and up onto a half-wall to snap this shot. It was taken around 10:50 a.m. on 9/26/14.
Fstop: 22
Shutter speed: 1/1000

Great job on your use of yellow in the color study. I loved how you were not afraid to get right up close. Everything is crisp and clear. beautiful work.

You have an awesome eye for composition! I also loved how your pictures were bright, and nice and clear. You should go out at night and take exposure shots with a tripod with those lights! That would be super cool!!

Thank you! And what a good idea, I’ll totally have to! I even have a tripod, so once this dang rain stops I’m out of excuses. Thanks for the idea 🙂

I love the daylight stars photo! It is so cool that you caught the water sprays perfectly to make it look like mini stars! Such a great idea! It shows you were thinking about the assignment while going through out the day and thinking of the most creative shots! Great job!

Well thank you, that’s really nice of you! I was actually super jealous of your skateboarding shots, I was really wanting to do something like that but most of my skater friends live in other states at this point. You did a great job with those 🙂
